Made in Sweden Abu Garcia 3000 Antique Fishing ReelThis is a Vintage Garcia Abu 3000 Reeel. This classic made in Sweden Reel is a tougher to find model 3000. This ABU 3000, sold in Europe, was designed with special “plastic” sideplates to make it more resistant to salt water. Its cousin the ABU 4000 had red sideplates and was identical in every respect, except its market was USA.
The 1960’s vintage Gargia Abu 3000 baitcasting reel. Made in Svengsta Sweden, as stamped on the spool and serial number on the foot.
This lightweight reel was built to all of the Garcia standards. Has a free spool, a smooth level wind, and an anti-backlash brake. The side panels are made of Delrin and reinforced with metal. ( Delrin is a crystalline plastic, like bakelite, that offers an excellent balance of properties that bridge the gap between metals and plastics.)
